These photos were taken on Sunday 8th December and show just a little of the devastation caused by the tidal surge on the evening of Thursday 5th December 2013. The Visitors Centre and Wash Study Centre had over 2 feet of water through the buildings causing considerable damage and the surge also damaged paths, tracks, gates, fencing, noticeboards and hides.
The whole of Gibraltar Point NNR is closed to the public for the foreseeable future but it will be rebuilt and open again as soon as possible.
